Short-term Programs for Long-term Opportunities

ACC offers free classes to help adult learners earn a certificate in select high-demand fields. Classes typically meet for two to three months at locations around Austin. Start and end times vary; see class dates and times below.

Who Can Enroll

Career Pathways free certificate programs are offered to students in ACC’s High School Equivalency (HSE) classes, English as a Second Language (ESL) Level 3 and 4 students, and adults with other education barriers. Eligibility to work in the United States is required for some programs.

Individuals with F1 or F2 (International Student), J1 or J2 (Exchange Visitor), and B1 or B2 (business/tourism) visas are not eligible for this program.

Para-Educator (Teacher Assistant) The program covers the ins and outs of working successfully with a licensed educator. Also, during the course, future Educational Aids will learn about the various learning styles of students and the appropriate instructional processes to address each style. Finally, the class will explore the core subjects of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. To earn the Educational Aide/Paraeducator Statement of Completion, participants must attend all course days of the program and pass a final evaluation. 6 – 9 p.m. 
Certified Nursing Assistant CNA is an entry-level role providing vital support to patients and nurses. Job duties include transporting, bathing, and feeding hospital patients. Most positions are located in long-term care facilities. All interested students must be eligible to work in the U.S. Spanish-speaking cohort possible! Office Clerk Prerequisite: Basic computer skills are needed. This intermediate-level course covers a variety of computer skills required in office work. Earn your IC3 Certification and gain confidence in your Google applications, web browsing, and communication skills. A computer and internet connection is required to participate in this class. 8/30/24 In-person HLC Fridays

Asistente de Oficina (Español) Requisito previo: Se necesitan conocimientos básicos de usar una computadora. Este curso cubre una variedad de habilidades informáticas necesarias en el trabajo de oficina. Obtenga su certificación IC3 y gane confianza en sus aplicaciones de Google, navegación web y Microsoft. Tambien incluye el basico de comunicación en ingles. Para estudiantes de ESL basicos y nivel 1. 8/26/24 EVC Lunes y Miercoles 9 a.m. – noon
Accounting and Quick Books Prepare itemized statements, bills, or invoices and record amounts due for items purchased or services rendered. Perform bookkeeping work, including posting data or keeping other records concerning costs of goods or services or the shipment of goods. Take the Online Quickbooks certification exam as part of the class. 8/27-12/12 HLC 5 days a week

Supply Chain Management/Logistics This program prepares you for a career in Supply Chain Management/Logistics. This field is the support system behind every commodity and offers job opportunities across a dozen specialty areas ranging from warehousing and transportation management to purchasing, inventory control, and customer service.  There are three classes: you must pass each class before proceeding to the next. 8/27 EVC
In-person and online
HVAC Students will study a range of topics, including OSHA 10 training requirements, construction math, hand and power tools, materials handling, and construction drawings. Classes will cover the principles of electricity relevant to HVAC, including testing equipment, electrical circuits, and component theory and operation. The course includes students taking the EPA Universal Examination on the final day. 8/27/24-1/18/25 NRG TWTH
